One minute I\u2019m pushing my toddler on the swing, and the next my brain is juggling:<\/p>\n<p>\u2192 Laundry piling up<br \/>\n\u2192 Emails waiting<br \/>\n\u2192 What\u2019s for dinner tonight<br \/>\n\u2192 And a dozen other things that can definitely wait\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, his little world is so beautifully simple:<br \/>\n\u201cMommy is pushing me on the swing.\u201d \u2764\ufe0f<\/p>\n<p>Becoming a mom has taught me how important and rare the present moment is. We\u2019re pulled in every direction \u2014 by devices, calendars, to-do lists and then we feel overstimulated when our kids ask for a simple request like a snack or a pre-bedtime dance party.<\/p>\n<p>This is my PSA to myself (and to whoever needs to hear it):<\/p>\n<p>Slow down. Let the non-priority thoughts pass. Our kids don\u2019t care if the dishes are done, they care that we gave them our undivided attention today.<\/p>\n<p>These years are going by so fast.
