I convinced myself for years that I didn’t like steak 🥩
First off no hate for non meat eaters this is just my health story/experience. I’m not saying you can’t feel good off just plants but what I am saying is that everyone and every body is different and not everyone thrives off eating a plant based diet.
When I started making videos online the vegan culture was super trendy and just pretty to showcase (not to mention the fact that it’s delicious too). I convinced myself that I enjoyed eating mostly plants and I didn’t need much animal protein if at all to feel good and meet my nutrient needs.
Now looking back at my mid 20’s when I was mostly vegetarian I remember I remember feeling my worst. I was anemic, mental health was at an all time high (i was on medication until even they didn’t work), intense sugar cravings, always felt shaky/hungry all the time, my blood sugar always felt low, felt dizzy, sleep problems, and although I’ve made many lifestyle changes not eating enough protein and enough animal protein was impacting my health.
Maybe it’s my blood type (I’m 0 negative if you’re curious), fast metabolism or just how my body functions and absorbs nutrients but eating more protein has helped my nervous system feel calmer, reduced cravings, and I for the first time in my life I don’t feel shaky when I don’t eat for more than 2 hours.
I’m realizing that I’ve finally found a way of eating that works for my unique body and personal needs.
Sharing in case anyone else needs to hear this too 🫶🏼
